Tobey Maguire

Actor famous for his role of Spiderman and roles in many other films such as The Great Gatsby. Tobey became vegetarian in 1992 and vegan in 2009, and has banned all leather from his house.

Maguire left school in the ninth grade so that he could devote himself to a career in acting, and he soon landed a role in FOX's Great Scott! (1992). However, this show was unsuccessful and ran for just nine weeks. Maguire's next on-screen appearance was in Duke of Groove (1995), a short-film which received an Oscar nomination, followed by a role in Woodey Allen's Deconstructing Harry (1997). Following these roles, he gained a major part in The Ice Storm (1997). Maguire's performance as Paul Hood, the sardonic-but-sensitive son of Kevin Kline and Joan Allen, earned high praise from critics. In 1998, Maguire again played the fictive son of Joan Allen in Pleasantville, but this time, it was Maguire in the lead role. He then went on to star in The Cider House Rules (1999) and Seabiscuit (2003). In 2002, he landed his most memorable role as Peter Parker in the blockbuster Spider-man, and went on to star in the sequels Spider-man 2 (2004) and Spider-man 3 (2007). More recently, he played the central and narrating character, Nick Carraway, in Baz Luhrman's adaptation of the literary classic Great Gastsby (2013), alongside Leonardo Dicaprio. He has been nominated for Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Awards and received two Saturn Awards, including one for Best Actor.

"It's never really been that hard for me. I've never had any desire to eat meat. In fact, when I was a kid I would have a really difficult time eating meat at all."
