Vegetarian group launch national animals photo competition

EUROPE's largest campaigning animal organisation, Viva!, has launched a competition to find the very best amateur images of farmed animals, including pigs, cows and chickens.

Photographs can also be of animals whose cousins are killed for food such as horses, wild geese or ducks " whether in transport, at market, on farms, out in the field, in ponds or sanctuaries.

Viva! founder and director, Juliet Gellatley, says: "If you're adept at capturing the moment with a lens, whether it be harrowing, sweet or cheeky, send us your results and show the world how you feel about the treatment of animals in human society.'

First prize will be "100 plus your photo featured in a future edition of Viva!'s popular magazine, Viva!life; second prize: "50; third prize: "30 in Viva! Gifts for Life merchandise gift vouchers.
