The Incredible Veggie Show is returning to London and will be bigger, better and more incredible than the first. It will be held at the Lawrence Hall and Conference Centre, Royal Horticultural Halls on Saturday, June 30, 2007, from 10am-5.30pm. Organised by Europe's largest vegetarian campaign group, Viva!, the inaugural show at Wembley Conference Centre 18 months ago was a sell-out success, with 5,000 people attending and the doors being closed at one point to restrict entry. Many more are expected to attend this year and so a larger venue has been chosen. Pre-show publicity will feature the group's patron, Heather Mills, in fruity poses. Heather will also be at the show to give a cookery demonstration and to offer advice on healthy living. She says: 'London is Britain's most vibrant city " and it can soon be one of its healthiest. Congratulations, Viva!, for bringing your fun, upbeat Incredible Veggie Show to the capital. It's the perfect introduction to the wonderful world of healthier, cruelty-free, environment-saving, people-protecting vegetarian living!' This unique event is being supported by a wealth of other celebrities, including Joanna Lumley and Martin Shaw. Entry to The Incredible Veggie Show will cost just "3 (under 16s free) which will include a whole range of delicious free food tastings from leading veggie food manufacturers and all the advice you could ever want on changing your diet or improving your health. Advance bookings will be entered into a free prize draw to win a vegan hamper worth "150. A brilliant family day out, there will be over 100 exhibitors showing everything from food and drink to clothing and footwear, cosmetics and toiletries to baby products. Rose Elliot MBE, the queen of vegetarian cookery will give free demonstrations; Professor Jane Plant CBE, who has beaten breast cancer five times, will talk about her diet for health; Dr Michael Greger, agricultural director of HSUS will speak about bird flu and preventing cancer; Rebecca Edwards, nutritional therapist, will talk on why meat and dairy are linked to digestive diseases from bowel cancer to Crohn's, and how vegan diets prevent and heal; and Juliet Gellatley on "Why You Don't Need Dairy'. 'there has been a massive change in public attitudes and people are hungry to find out why vegetarians and vegans tend to be healthier and live longer than meat eaters,' says Juliet Gellatley, Viva!'s Director. "There is also a growing awareness that our diet directly affects the world around us " and that vegetarians and vegans contribute far less to the destruction of the environment. For our planet's sake there is an urgent need to move away from a meat and dairy-obsessed Western diet. The Incredible Veggie Show is the perfect place to find out how you really can save the world, your health and countless animals with your knife and fork!' Viva! has its HQ in Bristol and offices in the USA and Poland. It carries out undercover investigations to expose animal abuse and its successes include the dumping of all "exotic' meats such as kangaroo and crocodile by UK supermarkets, ending the debeaking of UK ducks, slashing the export of Polish "meat' horses to the EU and persuading a US supermarket chain to entirely rewrite its animal welfare codes. Viva!'s most recent success was to persuade supermarket chain Lidl to drop foie-gras from its stores " and was instrumental in Waitrose's decision to become the first UK supermarket to allow ducks raised for meat access to water for swimming. The Incredible Veggie Show is sponsored by Beanie's Health Foods (Wholesale) Ltd, Plamil Foods Ltd, Lavera, The Redwood Wholefood Company Ltd, Fresh & Wild, LoveLondon.org.uk, Viva!and the Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation.
