Expert talk explores how cutting out dairy can do wonders for your health

Release date:
Friday, June 1, 2012

EVER wondered what is in your food or how it was produced? Is it really healthy and how high is animal welfare? What is it that the dairy industry isn’t telling us?

Europe’s largest campaigning vegetarian and vegan organisation, Viva! are hosting a public talk and film showing in Cardiff’s St David’s Hall, taking an expert look at these issues, on Tuesday, May 15.

The event, in the St Asaph Room, will be led by Viva! founder and director and nutritional therapist, Juliet Gellatley.

Her talk, ‘Why You Don’t Need Dairy’ answers the questions: is it natural to consume milk after childhood? Is it healthy or even safe? How do the natural growth hormones, milk protein and saturated fats affect us and why are they bad?

Juliet says: “Come and find out about the calcium myth and why dairy consumption is linked to osteoporosis, diabetes and other ailments. We will explore how you can really improve all aspects of your health by choosing dairy-free alternatives in your diet.”

There will also be free tastings of a range of dairy-free alternatives to milk, cheese and other common foods.

The event runs from 6.30pm-8pm and is free to attend.
