JOB OPPORTUNITY: Web Developer at Viva! | Viva! - The Vegan Charity

Web developer

We're hiring! Come and work for the charity you love as a Web Developer on our Web Team.

Viva! is an exciting charity – tenaciously working for a vegan world with dynamic campaigns, events, research and information on saving animals, caring for our planet and improving our health. We also encourage people move towards veganism with lots of lifestyle support such as our online (and apps) Vegan Recipe Club and 30 Day Vegan, as well as plenty of nutritional advice and upbeat events such as Viva! Vegan Festivals.

We have a portfolio of websites rich in informative, inspiring, and challenging content. 25 years old this year, Viva! is at a point where we need to consolidate that content into a structure better reflecting our current areas of activity: animals, health, environment and lifestyle.

The Viva! Web Team are looking to recruit a Web Developer fluent with Drupal. We're in process of migrating from Drupal 7 to 8, so experience of that migration is important. A solid background in PHP (especially Symfony) would be very desirable to help maintain, transpose, and develop our custom modules. Familiarity with Git and Docker would ease you into our workflow, as would being a stickler for documentation. Viva! has evolved a wealth of quality content. We'll be looking at rebuilding our Web presence to best present multiple lines of information. You'll need to show a good sense for structure and process: we want to both meet our content creators' need for efficient editorial tools, and our users' need to get answers to their enquiries. To that end we will want to see that you have a good grasp of Drupal theming.

Front-end development skills (HTML, CSS (SASS), Javascript) would be expected. Any experience of graphic design, user interface design, or improving user experience would be very useful. Bonus points for any experience of developing for multiple devices, and iOS apps specifically.

Closing date: 23 April 2019

Salary scale: £27,000 to £32,000
