Viva! is an exciting charity – tenaciously working for a vegan world with dynamic campaigns, investigations, events, research and information on saving animals, caring for our planet and improving our health. We also encourage people move towards veganism with lots of lifestyle support such as our online shop, Vegan Recipe Club and, 30 Day Vegan, as well as plenty of nutritional advice and upbeat events.

We are growing and have created a new role - Business Partnerships Manager.  

We are looking for a highly organised, strategic thinker with strong communication skills. Applicants must thrive in a fast-paced environment, be able to work independently and able to meet tight deadlines

Business Partnerships Manager

The Business Partnerships Manager is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strategic relationships with businesses and corporate partners. They will be primarily responsible for developing new policies and strategies which allow business partnerships to thrive and leading high level business pitches. The Business Partnerships Manager will be expected to represent the charity at conferences, workshops and other corporate functions. They will identify new opportunities for collaborations whilst strengthening existing partnerships. Ultimately, the Business Partnerships Manager will work to increase income and secure promotional deals with likeminded businesses.

 

Reports to: PR & Marketing Manager

Salary: £25,000 to £34,000 pa depending on experience

Full time

Initially a 12 month contract with a view to becoming permanent

Based at Bristol HQ.

Job Description

  • Lead, manage and deliver a new corporate strategy with a focus on commercial and strategic partnerships, strengthening existing partnerships and driving donations.

  • Represent Viva! at corporate functions, trade shows and meetings to build brand recognition and increase our business connections. This will require the need to occasionally work unsociable hours eg attending evening or weekend meetings or for overnight stays.

  • Lead on high level proposals and pitches to secure corporate income and PR, setting an excellent quality standard for new business written documents, proposals and presentations.

  • Proactively seek and identify new corporate opportunities with vegan businesses and vegan-sympathetic businesses.

  • Stay up to date with new vegan products and ventures; carrying out research on market trends and report these back to the wider charity.

  • Develop and maintain a database of prospective and existing advertisers; booking advertising space in printed materials and securing advertising contra-deals.

  • Review and advance Viva!’s affiliate business scheme; including maintaining good relationships, promoting the partnerships through marketing collateral and build up levels of engagement with existing key business partners.

  • Liaise with and act as the link between relevant key teams internally (particularly retail, marketing and fundraising) and external businesses.

  • Collaborate with senior management and the marketing team to align our internal goals with new and existing partner relationships.

  • Analyse and reporting on existing partnerships and new collaborations, providing reports on income and expenditure.

  • Develop and maintain protocols and business rules for ensuring efficient administration systems and ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.

  • Any other tasks as reasonably requested by line manager or director.

Essential

  • Proven track record of developing excellent relationships with high level corporate funders and income generation, including leading on pitches and written proposals.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and translate content to a variety of audiences.

  • Strong copywriting skills and ability to package up different elements of Viva!’s work into attractive corporate propositions – in both written and verbal form.

  • Confidence in public speaking and addressing large audiences at partner events.

  • Experience of financial and budget management including planning, developing, forecasting, setting, monitoring, reviewing and reporting on budgets.

  • Experience of project management including planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on performance and dealing with competing priorities.

  • Experience in developing content for communications materials, covering web and print materials, with keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent networker who can quickly establish relationships and adept at identifying strategic partnership opportunities.

  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage and take responsibility for own workload, handle multiple priorities and excellent self-management skills to work independently.

  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the UK and to occasionally work unsocial hours/stay overnight.

Desirable

  • Degree in business, administration, management, marketing, communications or related field.

  • Understanding of charity legislation in relation to partnership agreements, GDPR and data protection.

  • Driving license.
