Welcome to the Viva! Wine Club. We hope that you enjoy what we believe are the best and best value selection of vegan wines, beers and spirits in the world. We can guarantee that these drinks are completely free from any animal products. Most of the wines are also organic and have won awards in competitions and praise in the press, showing the high quality achieved where it matters most – in the taste. Vegan and organic wines are winning more and more friends and the number of vineyards changing their methods of production is growing rapidly.

Featured Spring Wines

Ripe red cherries and smooth sweet flavours with a slight hint of pepper. A straightforward and, in some ways, simple wine that's skillfully realised. Jérome Sauvète is a new name to us and whilst his Gamay doesn't have quite the concentration of the Garrelière 'Sans Tra la la' it's hard to beat for sheer enjoyable easy-drinking. Try it cool for a summer treat.

Most definitely rioja from the new wave. An enticingly vivid ruby red in the glass, there are elegant and subtle aromas of figs, balsamic, liquorice and raisins. On the palate it’s strikingly well poised with well-constructed tannins, soft and almost chocolatey ripe fruit and a pleasantly firm finish. This is a semi-crianza wine, aged in oak for 6 months, smooth, mellow and with just a hint of spice.

Grape varieties: Tempranillo/Garnacha/Merlot. Organic.

A particularly exciting and long-awaited addition to the range. The wine is a deepish purple tinged red. On the nose there are appealing berry and savoury characters whilst the mouth is packed with rich, robust fruit. The style is vigorous, almost rustic, with ripe cherries, blackcurrants and green pepper predominant. The tannins are gentle but supportive and the outcome entirely satisfactory.

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon. Organic.

Vegan Wines
Wine is usually clarified with fining agents that are derived from animals. Products such as gelatine (made from pig, cow and horse bones) and isinglass (from fish swim bladders) are widely used to remove proteins, yeasts and other items in suspension in the wine before it is bottled. Some wines are clarified using battery egg albumen, an agent more commonly used for red wines, or casein (milk protein). The vegan alternatives used in our wines are bentonite and kieselguhr – natural mineral products which perform the same function without leaving any residue. Our wines are simply filtered or clear naturally in the barrel over time.

Organic Wines
Our wines have the style and the characteristics of the best that their country and region can offer – but are made using grapes grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. These chemicals destroy the environment, wildlife and human health. Also our wines are low in sulphur dioxide and so are more suitable for people prone to allergic reactions to wine. All our organic growers are regularly checked by organic associations and meet the EU standards governing organic production.

Note: Wines 248 and 259 (the Azabache Riojas) have been removed from the Wine Club, as they are no longer vegan.
