Why Donate to Viva!?

The answer is a simple but powerful one: Viva! saves animals and campaigns for a better future for all. We survive purely on your generosity. Viva! receives no government funding and the only way we can carry on making a difference is by donations from people like you. If it wasn’t for the financial support of animal lovers Viva! simply would not be here.

Your donation will help us spread the word –- including funding this website. It will help us launch regular, hard-hitting campaigns and force the vegetarian and vegan debate back on to the agenda –- on TV, radio and in the Press. It will also help us launch undercover investigations to lift the lid on factory farming.

Recently, we visited ‘farms’ belonging to a subsidiary of Gressingham Foods – one of the largest suppliers of ducks in the UK and a principal supplier to Sainsbury’s. We found row upon row of overcrowded industrial sheds; adorable ducklings unable to walk, their legs waggling pathetically in the air as they lay on their backs. Some had filthy, crusty eyes, a common problem in intensive sheds and can lead to blindness. Another common sight are ducks with necks which are bent and contorted through pain – often an indication of severe and life-threatening disease.

Thanks to you, Viva!’s fight for British ducks has been hugely successful. The number of ducks killed for meat in the UK has fallen by seven million in just eight years. Our Day of Action against Marks and Spencer in 2004 forced the company into a u-turn and now most of their ducks are free range. In 2005, we exposed the awful conditions at a main supplier to the Co-op. Waitrose have credited Viva! for their change of policy in favour of free-range ducks with access to water for swimming. With our Day of Action on December 12, we will be persuading thousands of Sainsbury’s customers to not buy duck meat – but opt for a veggie Christmas instead!

Please help us save animals. Donate to Viva! today. Whatever you can afford will make a difference to helping us end the suffering of animals and promoting a kinder tomorrow.

Every donation helps save animals. Also, please consider becoming a supporter and join us in the fight for life.
