Marina Sirtis

British actress Marina Sirtis is well known for the role she played as Counselor Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). She is a strict vegetarian and animal rights activist, with two pet dogs rescued from a shelter.

Despite her parents' reluctance for her to become an actress, Sirtis secretly applied to the Guild Hall School of Music and Drama. After her graduation, she worked in musical theater, repertory and television. Her first on-screen role was in Star Trek, and when the series ended she reprised her role for a string of successful Star Trek films: Star Trek: Generations (1994), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), Star Trek: Insurrection (1998), and Star Trek: Nemesis (2002).
