Bonet began acting in commercials at the age of 11, and at the of 16 she landed the role of Denise Huxtable in the hit comedy series The Cosby Show (1984). This made her a popular actress and led to a role in the spin-off series A Different World, which focused on Denise Huxtable's life at college. As a result of her turbulent relationship with singer Lenny Kravitz, she faced a lot of media attention and decided to re-invent herself by taking on a role in the movie Angel Heart (1987), wherein she had racy nude and sex scenes. The backlash from making the movie is rumored to have prompted Lisa's exit from The Cosby Show. More recently, she co-starred with Will Smith in the big-budget hit movie Enemy of the State (1998) and had an important role in High Fidelity (2000).
