A SPECIAL novel writing workshop is being hosted in Bristol in May for those looking to develop their creative flair and produce their own novel.
The one day course is being led by author of 16 years and television producer, Heidi Stephenson, from Devon.
Places are priced at "60/'50 concessions with 50 per cent of all proceeds being donated to Bristol animal campaigning group, Viva!.
How to write a novel is being held on Saturday, May 8, at the Spring Garden Tavern, 118 Hotwells Road, Bristol, from 10.30am-5.30pm.
This creative writing workshop will look at:
' What makes a good novel'
' How and where to find story ideas
' Creating memorable characters
' Writing dialogue
' Story structure
' The importance of setting
' Showing, not telling
' Beginnings and endings
' Overcoming dreaded writers bloc
There will be lots of writing exercises, so attendees are asked to bring along a notebook and pens. No previous writing experience is required. Come and have some creative fun!
About the course leader
Heidi Stephenson has published a book on playwriting (Rage and Reason: Women Playwrights on Playwriting, Methuen), has written three stageplays, three screenplays and a radio drama, The Witches of Bideford, which was broadcast on BBC Radio Devon. Her teaching experience includes work for the Arvon Foundation, Exeter Phoenix and The Hypatia Trust. She is currently completing a novel.
