Description Bute Island Foods is a vibrant young company, dedicated to making vegan alternatives to dairy products " without being cruel to animals! It produces nine flavours of 100 per cent dairy-free cheese called Sheese and five flavours of Creamy Sheese. So if you're suffering from milk allergies " or just love animals " smile and say "Sheese!"

History Bute Island Foods " have been manufacturing a range of nine flavours of hard cheese, originally called Scheese, since 1988.

In 2003, the company changed hands, although it has kept the same ethical view of only ever producing Vegan products. The companies aim is to make the best alternatives to dairy products that it can, to enable consumers who are lactose intolerant or want to be vegan, to be able to stop eating animal products " without it being a sacrifice.

After an initial period of tuition from the founders of Scheese, to ensure that the new team fully understood the unique process, the founders retired from the business.

In 2006, sales were fulfilling 90 per cent of production capacity. Expansion was required, and so much time was spent in developing new packaging, and working with machine manufacturers to increase production capabilities and efficiency.

In Jan 2007 a new production line was set up with a 100 per cent increase in production levels. The product brand name was changed to Sheese, and now sold in high quality re-sealable packs with much clearer, more colourful labelling.

April 2007 " Saw the successful launch of the new range of Creamy Sheese (a soft spreadable cheese) available in five flavours. Installation was completed for a new production line which packs the Creamy Sheese in 255g re-sealable tubs.
