TALKS
11.30am-12.15pm: Saving the World With Your Knife and Fork
Justin Kerswell, Campaigns Manager, Viva!
Almost every one of the world’s exploding environmental catastrophes has its roots on the dinner plate! Justin explores how grazing for meat and dairy animals and growing vast areas of soya and other animal feed are inexorably destroying planet Earth. And he offers the solution: change your diet – change the world!
12.30pm-1.20pm: Mood Food
Juliet Gellatley, Founder and Director, Viva! and Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation and Nutritional Therapist
Why what you eat affects your mood, view of yourself and the world. Why going vegan helps you beat stress and the blues! After this talk, go to the cookery demo at 2.50pm and see how to cook to beat the blues!
1.30pm-2.15pm: Why You Don’t Need Dairy
Juliet Gellatley, Founder and Director, Viva! and Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation and Nutritional Therapist
A compelling and popular talk asking is it natural to consume milk after weaning? Indeed, is it safe to consume cow’s milk at all? Juliet looks at many health issues and new research showing why dairy is linked to cancers; how natural growth hormones in milk affect us and what are the dangers of milk protein and saturated fats? She exposes the links with heart disease, diabetes and obesity.
Also, she examines the pervasive calcium myth. Do we – and especially our children – need milk for calcium? If not, where should we obtain it and how do we ensure our kids have strong bones?
2.30pm-3.15pm: Wheat-eaters or Meat-eaters?
Juliet Gellatley (BSc Zoology and Dip Nutrition), Founder and Director, Viva! and Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation
Juliet will be tackling the myths that we are ‘meant’ to eat meat and dairy, after all that’s the way we’re designed, isn’t it? She will explore what really is a healthy diet with a fun quiz – find out how near or far you are from the perfect diet! Free nutrition guide given in this talk!
