Lutterworth lass crowned Britain?s Best Young Veggie
Date: Thursday, September 18, 2008
Location Main Entrance, Lutterworth Country Park
A SIXTEEN year-old girl from Lutterworth has been crowned Britain?s best young veggie by national veggie group Viva!.
Caroline Butterwich won the competition to find the most inspirational young veggies and vegans in the country. Viva! youth campaigner, Fiona Galbraith, along with her giant friend Piggles the pig (a Viva! supporter dressed up), will be presenting Caroline with a trophy and a goodie bag of prizes on Thursday (September 18).
Caroline says: ?I?m surprised, I wasn?t expecting it at all! I?m very proud! I love telling people that I?m vegan.?
She was nominated for the award by her big sister, Becky who proudly told Viva!: ?Caroline often hands out leaflets at school and gets other students to sign petitions, spreading the message in every way possible. Despite being partially sighted, Caroline has raised lots of money for various animal charities doing things like sponsored swims and vegan cake sales. She can often be found in the kitchen creating various delicious creations ranging from vegan cheese cake to spaghetti bolognaise. Caroline will not rest until animal abuse ends. That is why I feel she deserves to win.?
Her achievement also featured in Viva!?s magazine Viva!ACTIVE, to receive a free copy please email firstname.lastname@example.org. To find out more about going veggie, please visit www.viva.org.uk.
