Welcome to Viva!

Eating meat; fish and dairy causes environmental destruction, damages human health, contributes to global hunger and inflicts immense suffering on billions of animals across the world.

Viva! believes that the solution to all these problems is in our own hands: the best way to stop the destruction and the cruelty is to stop eating animals now – go vegetarian, or better still, vegan.

Through popular campaigns, solid research, undercover exposés and effective media skills we have brought the reality of modern farming into people's living rooms. We have enlightened millions, shocked most and changed the diets of many. You can help with these successes.

Dump dairy - save a badger!

Badgers are under imminent threat in Britain. Scapegoats for farmers' failings and outrageous political backslapping.

As early as June this year, thousands could meet a violent end at the end of a gun in a mass slaughter driven by the dairy industry. Read more. See the video above for our recent Bristol demo, where Viva!'s founder and director Juliet Gellatley says why people should boycott dairy to save badgers. Read about our demo here and see the press coverage.

Please help us spread the message that one of the best ways to save badgers is to dump dairy and tell others why you're doing it. We have produced our new Dump Dairy – Save a Badger leaflets (PDF) and posters (PDF) and we are holding a Day of Action on Saturday May 18. Order your free materials for door-dropping or stalls and get involved! Also, Viva! is supporting the National March Against the Badger 'Cull' on Saturday, June 1 in London. Click here for details - and see you there!

Find out more about Viva!'s campaigns for badgers and please pledge to boycott dairy today. Over 3,800 people have already pledged to dump dairy to save badgers!

What's in a label?

Shockingly, Nikon not only facilitate and promote the shooting of wild animals with cameras – they also do it with guns. The hypocrisy of this global company is one they have seemingly fought hard to keep from UK consumers.

Many wildlife photographers use Nikon cameras, but few know that Nikon sponsor trophy hunting in the United States and also produce a riflescope specifically designed for killing large wild animals in Africa such as lions despite their numbers plummeting.

Join us in telling Nikon to dump their support for hunting and tell them you will not touch their products until they do. Sign the petition. Read messages of support from top wildlife photographers Stefano Unterthiner and Christoper Rimmer.

The stars swing for Viva!

Viva! patrons and celebrities join together in voice for animals

There is an exciting project brewing for Christmas 2013! It is driven by a burning desire to save animals and the verve and enthusiasm of Debbie Curtis – who is known affectionately as 'The Mistress of Swing' and is the UK's only Fully Professional Female Big Band Leader.

At Viva! we are thrilled with Debbie's support for our life-saving work. She has organised a double A-side single featuring Viva! patrons including Jenny Seagrove, Jerome Flynn and Wendy Turner-Webster. As well of the vocal talents of dozens of other well-known stars and leading names, including: Dale Vince, Dave Spikey, Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, Hayley Mills, Virginia McKenna, Uri Geller and more!

Do You know what you're eating? Watch our thought-provoking new short film 'The dinner'...

Why do we eat some animals and share our homes and lives with others? The horse meat scandal has made millions question this relationship and many are waking up to their unwitting role in animal cruelty. They are also realising that the best way to end this suffering is to simply stop eating animals. It's easy, kinder and healthier, too! Go veggie or even better go vegan.

In a shocking development, people who eat processed meat may have eaten dog, cat or even rat. The authorities and supermarkets in Britain don’t know because they don’t yet test for it! Read our major exposé in the Daily Mail.

Read more here and claim your free veggie or vegan packs full of great cruelty-free recipe ideas. You can also order our great new 'What's in a label?' leaflet!

Tell Amazon to dump foie-gras!

Shockingly, one of the world's largest online retailers is selling a product in Britain that no British supermarket will touch.

Foie-gras is produced by force-feeding ducks and geese so much food that their livers expand by up to ten times its natural size. Amazon do not allow the sale of whale or dolphin meat, so why do they allow third-party sellers to offer foie-gras? Especially, as its production would be illegal in Britain because of animal cruelty.

Please ask Amazon to dump foie-gras from their online grocery store. Find out more and get active. Sign our petition. Please donate and help us fight for a foie-gras free Britain!
