Heather Mills and Dancing with the Stars Donation

False allegations have been made in the UK press that Heather Mills did not donate all of her fees from Dancing with the Stars to Viva!. This is not true. Heather very generously donated all her fees after 40 per cent was paid in tax and 8 per cent national insurance as advised by a letter from her accountant, which says "I understand that the company that produced the program would not pay Heather's money directly to the charity; hence it is treated as her income and taxed".
 
Juliet Gellatley, founder and director of Viva! states: "The fact that each week's survival on Dancing with the Stars meant more money for Viva! became almost incidental as I willed her on simply to see her succeed.  She deserved success, she deserved to be cheered and she deserved the warmth she has been shown in the US.  Despite the exhaustion of travel, rehearsal and performance and the pain and discomfort from her leg, she was happy to donate all of her fees to Viva! for a cause in which she believes deeply. And that tells you something else about Heather.  I'd now say to some UK journalists, you've had your fill - it's time to stop the spite because she simply doesn't deserve it."
