Help us save Tracy the Turkey!
GWR, a Bristol based radio station, has taken a female turkey named Tracy from a local farm and are planning to auction her off to the highest bidder to raise money for charity. There is currently a debate on what Tracy's future should be: should they eat her or save her? We want to save Tracy from the Christmas table and persuade GWR to give her to us, so we can give her a happy home in the country where she can live out her natural turkey days.
We have protested outside GWR's offices - and from the honks of the cars and vans passing us we know the people of Bristol are behind us! We've already been interviewed on the show three times, and have widened the debate out to talk about the 28 million turkeys who are needlessly killed in the UK each year - a third of those on the run up to Christmas alone. We have said on air that the best way to save animals is not to eat them, and GWR have put our delicious Christmas Celebration Feast on their website.
It doesn't matter if you're not from Bristol. It'll only take a minute to help us save Tracy!

Send a polite email asking them to give Tracy the gift of life this Christmas by donating her to us. To make it easier, we have prepared an email below:
"Dear Bush & Troy
Whilst we think it's great that you've given Tracy the turkey a break away from the farm, please give her the ultimate gift this Christmas: the gift of life!
Wild turkeys are graceful and intelligent birds who can fly up to 50mph and can live up to ten years. Turkeys reared for meat are killed between 8 and 26 weeks. These birds can barely walk let alone fly. For four years running, Viva!, the national campaign group, has filmed inside turkey units up and down the country, including Bernard Matthews' farms in Norfolk, where birds are crammed into sheds up to 25,000 at a time. Their undercover footage shows injured, diseased, dying and dead birds, packed into vast, filthy sheds. Turkeys are bred to be so huge that their legs can scarcely carry their weight and their hearts scarcely cope with the strain. Viva!'s video shows birds pulling themselves along on their wings and gasping for breath. Tens of thousands of turkeys starve every year because they cannot reach the food and water in these overcrowded factory farms.
When they reach the abattoir at the end of their short lives, turkeys are hung upside down in shackles before being moved down the line to slaughter. About 80% of them receive painful electric shocks from the water bath that is supposed to stun them. Up until their very last breath, the life of a Christmas turkey is full of suffering.
28 million turkeys were killed in the UK last year - a third of those on the run up to Christmas alone. Please don't let Tracy be just another statistic. Give her to Viva!, who have pledged to give her a safe and happy home - and will give a partner to spend the rest of her turkey days with.
By putting Viva!'s veggie Christmas Celebration Feast on your website you will be helping many have a cruelty-free holiday. You have the power to save one more little turkey - let Tracy's story have a happy ending!"
