How to hold a Sponsored Event

Holding a sponsored event for Viva! is fun, exciting and straightforward as long as you follow the guidelines listed below:

  • Pick a challenge. Ideas are a dog walk, a walk, roller blading, skate boarding, horseriding, swimming, fasting, running, cycling, skipping, bungy jumping, silence or more or less anything!

  • Pick a date. Make sure the date you set gives people enough time to raise sponsor money.

  • Pick a venue. Decide what you want to do. If it is a ride/ dog walk/ walk, how long will it take participants and how far will they go. Will they do laps or will children etc have a shorter route? Please do not set distances that are difficult for unfit horses/novice riders/children to complete. It should be a fun day for everyone.

  • Have a judge to see that complete what they said they would.

  • Collect participants’ entrance fees and give them a sponsor form long before the day of the event.

  • Keep a list of entrees

  • At least a week before the date of your event, send out the model press release enclosed to your local media (Radio, press, local TV). You are sure to get coverage of your event. This will also be good publicity for you.

  • Set a deadline for fees to be collected after the event. Once they are collected, send in the organiser form with funds raised to Viva! We will send you a certificate and a Viva! brooch and car sticker for all participants. People who raised more than £50 will receive a Viva! T- shirt.

Have fun and good luck!
