DISHING THE DIRT

What You Can Do

As individuals we can take action on ‘dirty meat’ by becoming vegetarian. However, we also believe that policy-makers should address all the risks arising from modern farming and we urge you to write to your MP to seek action. Feel free to copy this sample letter or– better still – compose your own. MPs are more likely to respond positively to a personal letter.

Write to: your MP at: House of Commons, Westminster, London SW1A 0AA; your MSP at: The Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh EH99 1SP; your AM at: The National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff CF99 1NA. To find out the name of your MP call 0207 219 4272; MSP on 0845 278 1999 or AM on 0299920 898 200.

Please send a copy of this letter – or, even better, compose your own – to your local newspaper. The address will be in the paper or can be found in the Yellow Pages. Address your letter to “Letters to the Editor”. If you do compose your own, feel free to use some of the information in our fact sheet but try to keep your letter to under 250 words. Don’t forget to include Viva!’s contact details for more information.
