Thanks to the Rally in Cardiff and the North Wales Rally, and the thousands of letters and postcards from Viva! supporters, they are wavering. To make them face up to science and common sense we are holding a Day of Action in Wales to force the issue back into the headlines, and get the Welsh people behind their wildlife. Please help! We are producing a leaflet specific to Wales (which you can download here), which will be ideal for door-dropping as well as handing to people on the street. It will also show the real reason behind this proposed massacre: pressure from the meat and dairy industries. Not in Wales? You can still get involved! Although a 'cull' has been ruled out in England, it is important that we all continue to fight for British wildlife. You can still order our general badger leaflets.
Free materials that are available are: the new Welsh badger leaflet; Welsh badger poster (A3); the general British badger leaflet; postcard to Wales' Chief Vet, Dr Christianne Glossop, urging her to call to abandon the 'cull'; a petition to Elin Jones AM calling for the Welsh Assembly to abandon plans for a 'cull' in Wales.
If you are in Wales, pleases get involved! Animal lovers throughout Wales will be taking to the street on September 20 for our peaceful Day of Action. Organise a photo call (we can provide you with a sample press release and badger masks) and hand out leaflets to people where you live. If you can't do this, then door-dropping leaflets is a fantastic way to get this information to people in your area.
Simply email Kate and tell her what you plan to do on the Day of Action (including the time and place if you will be handing out leaflets in a town or city near to you) and what materials you would like to order (and if you are under 18). If you just want door-dropper leaflets you can order them online here. We'll get them out to you in good time for the day. Thank you for helping us fight for our wildlife - and exposing the cruelty of the dairy industry.

“Now farmers will realise the strength of the science and will recognise that culling has no part to play. They should now objectively, alongside government, consider the cattle control elements that we all know are absolutely essential as outlined in our report.”
Professor John Bourne, chairman of the Independent Scientific Group
"Culling badgers is historically known to be totally ineffective in stopping bovine TB. Northern Ireland has proved that the most effective procedures are strict cattle controls and no culling. We should all follow their lead- It works!"
Joanna Lumley
“We must not make badgers scapegoats for bovine TB”.
Twiggy
“How can we condemn a protected species to death when the reasons for doing so have been discredited by valid scientific evidence? Badger culling is utterly barbaric and pointless. Please support Viva! in their fight to stop this needless massacre of our precious wildlife.”
Benjamin Zephaniah
“Deep down anyone with common sense knows that killing animals is wrong, but what makes the idea of culling badgers even more sinister is that it’s being done in order to cover up bad farming practices and lazy testing methods. I don’t want to stand by knowing that these great creatures are suffering and being killed, but I also don’t want to see a time in the future when we look back and wonder how we let another group of our animals disappeared from our country.
I say no to this or any other badger cull and I urge all caring people to do the same. Get rid of ignorance, not badgers.”
Rose Elliot
“I totally support Viva! in their campaign to stop the badger cull which is both obscene and unnecessary since top scientists say it will only make the spread of TB in cattle worse.”
