How to raise money for Viva!
Buy paintings by Heather and she will donate a very kind 20 per cent of the sale to Viva!
Heather began drawing at an early age, encouraged by her father who was a vet and himself an illustrator and published author (A Dales Naturalist) She achieved top marks at her local art school Skipton School of art and media and she went on to study at Camberwell College of Art in London.
Heather grew up the countryside, surrounded by nature and animals and she has always had a great deal of respect for the natural world. This has gone on to influence her work in the present day, not only in her animal & birds oil portraits but her more surreal, figurative oil paintings too. You can view some of her work here at, mixedcomposition.blogspot.co.uk
"I enjoy using images of animals & birds in my work as there is so much unnoticed beauty in living creatures. I try to celebrate & bring this to attention in my paintings"
Aside from painting Heather also co-runs a small Hackney based dog walking business. (121walks.blogspot.co.uk)
Heather is currently working on a volume of work with a more surreal aspect to it that she intends to exhibit in London in the near future.
Why I'm vegetarian
"I feel eating meat is so ingrained in our culture that it is done without giving a thought to the living creature that has had to die to provide, at most, a 15 minute moment of satisfaction. I understand these ways as these were my eating habits until I took a long, hard look at myself. Thankfully I did and now I lead a happy life without having the responsibly of a living creature's death on my hands!
Since becoming vegetarian I am not only happier and healthier, I've also become so much more aware of my responsibility as a consumer & have cut back on other irresponsibly farmed products such as dairy. I feel like a weight, that I never knew existed, has been lifted!"
Why I'm Supporting Viva!
"I want my skills as an artist to support valuable organisations such as Viva! and I look forward to donating 20% of every sale of my animal portraits & animal commissions to Viva!"
